As a production bioinformatics member,
I want to have the option to specify the number of cases that we start automatically,
So that we can circumvent possible overlapping starts of cases that will make the analysis fail.

Work impact

Answer the following questions:

  • Is there currently a workaround for this issue? If so, what is it?
    • No, there is a feature in CG currently to limit the number of cases to get when we use the start available. However, we have no way of passing the limit through CLI, nor is the limit hardcoded.
  • How much time would be saved by implementing this feature on a weekly basis?
    • Hours spent currently due to the state of hasta, and the amount of restarts we have to do
  • How many users are affected by this issue?
    • Production bioinformatics members
  • Are customers affected by this issue?
    • Yes, analyses get further delays due to the number of restarts we have to do.

Acceptance Criteria

  • The user can specify a threshold for the number of cases to start automatically through the CLI
  • This should at least be available for balsamic and MIP, but could be available for all workflows as well
